Jake Gooding has been writing music consistently since 2017. What began as an acoustic passion project with a local producer quickly blossomed into an extensive career prospect in songwriting. From writing lyrics in his bedroom, to local pub ‘open mic; nights, to selling out venues in Bristol, fronting his new band; BADLANDS. His ability to write effetely, efficiently and with precision is held with a high regard in his local scene, as well as his SOLO and BAND projects he has also collaborated & co-written music with verified talent such as ‘Faithchild‘ as well as featuring as a rap artist on upcoming releases by Bath/Bristol-based electronic band “1AM'“.

He has already experienced commercial success on streaming service Spotify, and has also managed to build strong connections in both Bath & Bristol as a regular touring artist - all of which whilst being a full-time student. His deep-rooted love for retro video games of the 90’s bleeds out strong in his artwork and visual approach to his music. He aims to tell a story within the story. All artwork is drafted and designed by Jake, it is further brought to life by professional 8-bit pixel artist @Harverydentmd, using the service Fiverr

raindance (demo)

“LIKE THE SHORE WHEN TIDE GROWS HIGH, NEVER THOUGHT THAT I, WOULD FEEL THE RAIN ONCE MORE'“ - Extract from ‘Raindance’

“This song is my magnum opus. In my opinion it is the best thing I have ever written. It is both subtle yet vulnerable. Even in demo stage it has reduced many to tears, even without the emotional context. This track radiates POWER, like a storm it brews and builds and unleashes and once you finally find yourself at its centre - it moves on, leaving a gentle silence its wake.” - Jake Gooding

Jake is currently working on his debut EP release titled: “_____”. Much of his work is hard to generalise and fit into into one genre but during the albums conception he specified that the project had to be “unified & unapologetic”, which led him to write and compose the whole thing himself, Seven songs in one month, alongside producer & feature artist; Jack Brown (of HUSHWING). The EP is about “The full-circle effect” of dating in your 20’s, a new relationship has a life cycle that we are all doomed to repeat constantly, It buds, it grows, it withers, it dies - and then we must start again.” ‘RAINDANCE’ will be the first song on the track-list, as he feels: “It represents & encapsulates the project perfectly.”

(The artwork & Music both pay Homage to his second commercial release “HOME”, which was added to the Spotify Playlist “EASY” and eventually climbed it’s way to over 222,000 Streams on the Platform.)

Jake will continue to write, collaborate & word alongside as many artists as possible. He recognises that the only way to make something of himself in this industry is to keep putting yourself out there. His goal is to cover as many bases as possible in the hopes that upcoming or established talent with recognise his skill & service as a songwriter and reach out!
